FAQs

How do I register for classes? Registration is online using an account name and password that we provide.
To set up an account please email info@re-create.org and include the parent’s full name and the school site

How will my child get from her daytime classroom to her afterschool class? Parents must inform their child’s teacher which days they are attending afterschool. Daytime teachers keep a list of the students who take part in Re-Create activities and will escort children directly to afterschool personnel in the lunch room and children are never left unsupervised.

What does my child do between school dismissal and the start of early session? At PS 9, 84 and 166 children are brought to their school’s cafeteria. Re-Create staff  provide a small snack and attendance taken. At PS 166, kindergartener’s are brought to the community room they are greeted and given a small snack.

What are the pick up times?
PS 9: Early session pick up time is 4:30 p.m. Late session pick up is 5:50 p.m.

When does online registration open and which classes will be offered? Registration usually opens one month prior to the start of the new cycle so that parents and teachers can plan their schedules in advance. Fall cycle registration opens in June and remains open all summer. We typically send a flyer home with the upcoming cycle’s schedule of classes one week before online registration opens. The current schedule of classes can also be found on our home page.

I can’t log in…Help! Please ensure you are using a home computer since work computers often have firewalls that interfere with our registration process. Supported browsers include Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Safari. Firefox is not currently supported. Please email: info@re-create.org for your log in credentials.

How do I change my class selections? After an initial class selection is made, simply email info@re-create.org to make changes. This is normal and we are happy to help.

Can I add a class after the cycle has started? Classes can be added [based on availability] or dropped through the second week of the cycle. If you wish to withdraw from a class after the second week of the cycle, a pro-rated refund will be provided.

What if my child decides that he doesn’t like a class that he has signed up for? We consider the first two weeks of classes a shopping period and children can add or drop classes without any penalty. We want children to feel that they can try something new without worrying that they’ll be stuck with it for a full cycle if it turns out that it’s not for them.

What do kindergarten children do in homework help if they aren’t assigned much homework? Kindergarten homework help includes cooperative games, age appropriate puzzles, and reading. A Kindergarten teacher who works in the school typically staffs these classes so they are familiar with the children’s developmental needs.

Can my child take a class that is not being offered at their school? In rare cases, students are allowed to cross register for classes at other Re-Create school sites as long as it does not lock out students who attend that school.
