FIRST STEPS TO MUSICAL THEATER at PS 9 k-1, PS 84 k-5 & PS 166 k-2
Students learn the basics of musical theater: dancing, singing, and acting. Engaging in age-appropriate theater activities, students practice learning dialogue and staging and presenting their work before an audience.
MUSICAL THEATER SKILLS at PS 9 grades 2-4
This Spring Cycle Jeff Edmond will direct the theater students in Beauty and The Beast. They will sing, dance, and learn all about putting on a show. This class goes to 5:15pm.
ENCORE! MUSICAL THEATER at PS 9 grades 3-5
You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown is a classic with lots of great parts to sing and dance. This is a two-cycle sign-up with a performance at the end of Winter cycle. Taught by Jeff Edmond and Lawrence Rush.
THEATRE GAMES WITH LIZ at PS 84 grades 3-5
Theater games will warm up brains, bodies, and tongues to develop focus, listening, collaboration, creative thinking, and public speaking. Students develop characters and explore voices, postures, and walks.
MUSICAL THEATER REVIEW at PS 166 grades 3-5
Improvisation, singing, dancing, theater games, and an end of cycle performance! With exercises for technique and skills, students develop as individual performers within a group. Jeff Edmond and Kas Graves teach.
SCHOOL PLAY at PS 166 grades 4 and 5
DANCE WORKSHOP at PS 9 grade 2
A combination of structured and improvisational activities, students learn body awareness, balance, locomotion, shape, and coordination. They will work together to co-choreograph a dance for an end of the cycle performance.
BEGINNING TAP at PS 84 grades K-2
This class is a fun and great learning experience for all those tapping toes and clicking heels! Students will learn classic steps such as “step-shuffle-ball-change” along with exploring rhythms and tap sounds.
MOVEMENT at PS 84 grades K-2
Students will enjoy this amazing class that involves various forms of movement, including coordination games, dances, and basic sports, all with the goal of increasing motor skills, coordination, and fitness.
CREATIVE MOVEMENT AND DANCE at PS 84 grades 3-5
Elements of dance including, Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Funk, House, and West-African introduce a variety of skills to encourage children to use dance as a form of expression and a way to connect to their bodies.
TAP, HULA, BALLET, IRISH STEP, HIP HOP, DANCING LIKE THE STARS at PS 166
