Mrs. Gutiérez-Zavala has worked nationally and internationally as a choir director, band director, percussionist, accompanist, organist, recording artist, music director for children’s musicals, classroom educator, and private studio instructor. As an educator, Mr. Gutiérez-Zavala has developed curriculum in Bilingual Education, including Music and Social Justice while founding instrumental programs and enriched existing music programs. Additionally, she has been a presenter and clinician at the Music Education National Conference, performer at the U.S. Embassy Paris, France, and host for an international children’s show. In addition to teaching Spanish, she is currently Director of Instrumental studies at PS 9 where she teaches music technology, bucket drumming, recorder, chorus and instrumental instruction.
Mrs. Gutiérez-Zavala holds a Bachelors degree in Piano Performance from La Sierra University, Masters of Arts and a Masters of Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. She plans on furthering her education as she pursues a Doctoral degree in the near future.
